Kiana kids

I spent a few hours talking with these girls, ages 13 and 14, in Kiana. They were so nice, so curious. They taught me the Inupiaq words for gas (puvluq) and stomachache (itiksi), told me about hoe they trap foxes and help cut moose, and quizzed me to no end on which of their relatives I knew. The people we ended up having in common were my artist friends who'd come out to Kiana for workshops and one ski instructor.
