Eggcentric Circle

    Newer Older

Keeping a mixed flock, I do get a good variety of colours and sizes but the egg in the centre of this group is definitely an oddity.
It is a real egg, laid this morning by a young silver seabright bantam.
A first egg is often a strange size or shape, this is taking it to eggstremes!
This is NOT an April Fools spoof.

When I was a kid, one of our chickens laid a tiny egg like this. My mum and I tried to fool my brother that his cockatoo laid it. Poor chap was in crisis as he had assumed till then the cockatoo was male.

what a beautiful collection of eggs, though.

Eggcelent! I can't believe I am the first one to say that. Perhaps because I am the only one willing to stoop so low. ;)

This is a wonderful shot!! And that little egg in the center...wow I had no idea that was possible! Was it a fertile egg?

    12. me'nthedogs 87 months ago | reply

      Thanks all.
jsnail - No. no way would it be a viable egg, you often get some oddities when a bird is just coming in to lay for the first time.
