Witham-Maldon Branch Line (Wooden Viaduct 01)

This set of pictures are taken of the old Wooden viaduct over the River Blackwater on the Witham-Maldon branch line (a 5.75 mile long closed railway line between Witham and Maldon in Essex, England which operated from 1848 until closure in 1966). According to Wikipedia there were six timber trestle viaducts on the line, the one near the former Wickham Bishops station seen here, is the only remaining and is a scheduled monument.

This old railway is my new favourite local landmark to explore as most people wouldn’t know of its existence, but if you look at Google satellite images of the area, it becomes very apparent exactly where this old line ran.
