60 km from Darwin.

 

Beatrice Hill, one of the highest vantage points where you can see for miles over the floodplains and wetlands of the Adelaide River. Beatrice Hill was named on 6 June 1864, by Naval officers Hutchinson and Howard while surveying the Adelaide River on board the HMS Beatrice.

 

You can see in the foreground a herd of buffaloes escaping the humidity by cooling off in the water.
