Passer domesticus

Yet another exotic mysterious wonder from West Africa, the Passer domesticus (aka, House Sparrow). A thriving introduction & on the checklist. This one -- a Mermoz, Dakar resident.

 

Told Martin after he joined me at BirdsGS that I'd bite the bullet and cover the ostrich and sparrow pics -- the two birds certainly no one has any problems IDing. An embarassment posting them for that purpose -- but the list is the list & must be covered to the best of our abilities.

 

The ostrich pic turned out surprisingly controversial. I'm not hoping for a repeat with Mr. Sparrow -- but a tribute indeed to this common bird, a true citizen of the world and at home with the vast habitation of humanity.
