Ridge to Mt Haystack with Mount Marcy in background
This was my last shot before my partner and I parted ways. Darkness was impending and I was determined to summit Haystack after we ascended Marcy.
Having finally found some very deep snow, completely unbroken and waist deep, we fell behind schedule. We had a 3:30pm turnaround time and it was now nearly 4pm. My partner wasn't keen on summiting in the twilight and then returning under total darkness with a fair amount of above treeline hiking and 3 miles back to our camp.
I summited Haystack in perfect conditions. And had a long walk back to camp on my own under the light of my headlamp.
Taken by my parter who served as a human tripod for my settings. Oddly, his photo taken moments before or after was under expsosed by a stop at the same settings. Should have used fill flash.
