Blue Moonrise Over Bald Peak and Lake Champlain
Title says it all. I took this just below the summit of Giant Mountain.
I knew there was a full moon but I didn't check where it was rising, and the summit of Giant only views south east and west. This is northeast.
It was amazingly windy on the summit and every shot I took (I stayed for sunset which was the plan) was poor at best.
Just a few minutes below the summit I noticed the moon rising and the wind was calming. I looked for a vantage point high enough to get some perpective set up my flimsy tripod. By this point the wind had stopped almost completely.
One problem, no flilm? I searched for a roll and had one 12 exp roll left. I wish I had a longer lens. I think I shot this with a 70mm which was just too short to make the moon large enough. Even with the graduated filter this several second shot still over exposed the moon but the landscape came out nicely. The 4 miles back to the road were extremely pleasant with no wind and lots of open views that made a headlamp optional as the moon cast shadows.
