Tyler's first roll of film from the Debonair Plastic Filmtastic 120 Camera. Tyler doesn't have a Flickr account so I have posted it under mine. I thought this was an incredibly strong image.
Pictured is Tyler's Grandpa, his hemodialysis fistula seems to be the subject of the picture yet after talking to him about the image other more underlying issues came to surface.
The apparent focus on the arm, the shadows from the leaves that look like dog tags or medical alert tags on his chest and the fact Tyler made the decision not to include his face makes this one powerful image.
Part of the success of the image was Tyler's choice of camera, the Debonair is non-intimidating piece of photographic equipment. Had Tyler used his big DSLR or the Mamiya RB67 the resulting image and his grandpa's attitude toward participation would have naturally made a different image, but I can't imagine a better one.
