Abandon all hope
This is the famous "Sweat Room" at the Academiegebouw of Leiden University where since the 16th century students used to wait to take their final exams. Those that passed the masters or doctorate were allowed to sign the wall. The names of several famous signers (including the Queen and Nelson Mandela) are now protected by a plexiglas covering.
One of our friends has his name written in lipstick, as he had to ask for a writing implement following his defense.
This building is the oldest building of Holland's oldest active university.
Above the door, written in Dutch, is the famous saying that Dante had above the door to Hell: "Abandon hope all ye who enter here."
