Hi Stephen, I LOVE IT ! Your Curiosity rover is just fantastic ! I'd love to build one at home for myself (and my kids of course :-) Would you place here any hints for us (= non JPL fans of MSL) - photos of certain stages of construction? Thanks a lot in advance !

What are the Lego parts that tie the two sides of the rocker bogie together? I refer to the large back arm on top and the linkage pieces that are attached to the black double cross pieces on each side?

pospa1 Hello pospa1. I've sent you a message that provides you with all the information you'll need. I'm glad you like the model and that it is serving it's intended purpose of providing educational outreach in support of space exploration for both kids and adults.

james.lundblad Hello James. The offset arm on the top of the rover is made of two long towball pieces, shown here: www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2508 . The towball pieces are connected to the Technic linkage with a mechanical claw piece: www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48729b . The other end of the linkage is connected to the mobility system with a pneumatic T-tube: www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4696b . I hope that answers your questions.

Thanks Stephen, we are building a simplified NXT model of Curiosity in our robotics class, but it would be really cool to build your model so we can demonstrate the rocker bogie. Is there some way you can send me an .lxf file?

    Thanks,
    James

james.lundblad Hi James, I do have a .lxf file of Curiosity and have sent you an email with a link so you can download it. I'm glad my model will be useful in the classroom. Thanks for your efforts in educational outreach for space exploration.
