Maes Y Llan Community Primary School, Wrexham
A Forest School ethos informs the outdoor teaching at Maes Y Llan and the way the grounds have been developed reflect this. All staff are trained in camp fire and woodlands working to embed this way of working across the curriculum. Forest School leaders from the local council worked with pupils to come up with ideas for the development of the site.

The school uses its varied outdoor spaces for learning as well as a wide range of after school activities. The grounds include a range of habitats for regular outdoor classes and teachers have developed an imaginative curriculum involving play and creativity. After school activities include gardening and den building clubs as well as team sports. Parents and children take part in making dens and looking after the growing beds.
