Broken Dishes by Sharon S in MI

I was inspired by this barn quilt near one of our favorite vacation spots, also in my home state of MI. This is the first time I've worked with triangles and found it was a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. I used a new pattern to make a "pocket style" hotpad. I changed the pattern to incorporate the barn quilt pattern (and will do it differently next time!). In the process of working with it, I found it also worked great as a little sewing pack to hold my thread, seam ripper, etc. and also makes a great pin cushion! There are 9 layers of fabric/batting through this! I put a layer of warm and natural on either side of insular-bright, which I used for the first time also. I broke a couple needles on this one! I had fun playing with these fabrics and making these quilted 4-triangle squares. I quilted each one with its own unique pattern. Thanks for this challenge!
