jack daniel's collector bottle that the tsa opened. barrelhouse 1 bottle
I bought this Barrelhouse 1 Bottle and decided that I am not going to open this bottle unless it is for a very very special occasion. Well, for years, I kept the bottle stored and maintained for that special day.
Years went by. I moved to Taiwan to teach English and have been living here since 2009, but the bottle remained in America, where I worried about its safekeeping. So, when I came back to America this July I decided to bring it back with me to Taiwan.
I went online and checked with the TSA and airline rules on alcohol transportation: no problem. So, in the suitcase it went, safely packed and awaiting its new home in Taiwan.
Taiwan, July 6th, back home and unpacking. When I opened the suitcase I saw a TSA Baggage Inspection Notice note on top of my items, no problem I thought. Well, as I was unpacking the suitcase with the Barrelhouse 1 Bottle in I noticed a slight fragrance of alcohol. I thought it had broken…no. The seal was removed and some of the alcohol was removed/drank. Heartbroken! I had not opened this bottle since 1994 and someone (TSA?) decided to enjoy my whiskey. Heartbroken and angry.
NO surprise...the TSA refused to admit damages.....bastards!!!
