David's culinary artistry
For dinner last night, David made elegant sandwiches, his own invention: roasted portobello mushrooms and roasted shallots, with a complex subtle sauce, on soft sourdough rolls (he'd have preferred heartier whole wheat buns but our local market didn't have them). Literally over-the-top: coils of thin-sliced kosher dill pickles, scallions thinly sliced lengthwise and garlic chives. What a show! but the flavor was far better yet.
By the way, the trivet is one we've had for years, and I didn't notice it was in the picture till I had it on the screen --- but it fits the men of our family: "Men of quality are not threatened by women of equality."
