Desert Marble butterfly

Photographed at western open space at Alameda Point, near San Francisco Bay. Mating Desert Marbles were spotted on vegetation planted on a wetland created by the Navy during environmental remediation. Normal range for this butterfly in California is the Sierra and down to southern CA. Photo taken on April 25, 2018.
