St. John's Church, Thaxted

In terms of it's sheer scale it hardly befits it's status as a parish church, grander in size and beauty and more imposing than the official Anglican Cathedral for Essex in Chelmsford. St. John's dominates the village of Thaxted and is visible for miles around and as I discovered during my visit to Audley End House some 10 miles to the north of Thaxted, the distinctive spire is clearly visible from the grounds of the Audley End estate. I took this shot using the 18-55mm kit lens at a focal length of 18mm, hence why there is some lens barrel distortion in the perspective; at least I think that's what the cause is, well that and my photography skills or lack thereof.
