Bathieu

Snack sandwich made with toasted multi-grain dark bread, lardo d'Arnad (cured fatback) and acacia honey. Toasting the bread is important as it helps to let that pork fat soften onto the bread, creating this honey-kissed marriage of textures and flavors.

 

The idea comes from Brasserie Bathieu (great place for a quick meal) in La Thuile, Valle d'Aosta. They had a panino (sandwich) named after the place so I had to give it a try. Absolutely wicked!
