Rival lorikeets

The same flowers, different birds.

There is only 2 sec interval between these two shots!


Scaly-breasted lorikeet on the left came first for the feed, but was pushed away by more aggressive Rainbow lorikeet (right).

Scaly-breasted lorikeet is more shy bird, and has less chance to survive. Luckily there are a lot of flowers in Australia, but no wonder we see Rainbow lorikeets much more often than these greenish ones.

    Wonderful pair of photos, Tatters. I love the way these birds feed upside down and snake along the tree, and you can see the start of a 'snaking' in the curve of the rainbow lorikeet' s neck.
