Canterbury Tales
These letters spell out the first seven lines of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales. They were photographed in order, west to east, as I walked the Pilgrims' Way from Winchester to Canterbury, 28 July-6 August 2006.

Whan that Aprill, with his shoures soote
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote
And bathed every veyne in swich licour,
Of which vertu engendred is the flour;
Whan Zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
The tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne

Thanks to Yoz Grahame for the idea and the sponsorship. The project is dedicated to his yonge sonne Dexter.

(Update:25th Aug) Flickrblog! w00t!

I wasn't just taking photos of letters on the walk: I also danced with an all-female troupe of Morris dancers and took a lot more photographs. And blogged the whole thing from my phone.
