400 Horses Project
Born from a desire to understand their body structure, the 400 Horses Project evolved into the challenging exercise of learning to like every horse that moved from hand to page during the year 2015. The resulting phrase, "Don't Doubt Your Horses," then became the mantra that led to acceptance of even the crudest of drawings. What began as an effort to draw 400 horse pictures eventually shifted in focus from the act of drawing to the act of liking, which necessitated a deeper acceptance of the horses in order to let them be who they are. This also necessitated an acceptance of drawings that might normally be considered "substandard" or "unsuccessful." Learning to accept these drawings then became part of the project as well.
