Northamptonshire Poppy Fields
Been having a bit of a break from the old portraits for a couple of weeks but it has allowed me to indulge in my other photographic passion, landscapes.
I have been on a bit of a mission lately trying to find a nice field of poppies fairly close to home but to no avail it would seem. Until today.
Since starting to see the odd poppy appear by the roadside in the past few weeks I have been diligently scouring the countryside close to home at every opportunity but have drawn a blank. I must have driven the length and breadth of Northamptonshire trying to find a decent swatch of these little beauties in a green field somewhere, mainly to use as a backdrop for a strobist portrait, but failed miserably.
I put a shout out on facebook in the hope that someone would give me the heads up but once again no luck. That was until this week at work when I finally got a tip-off and so headed out today to find and photograph them. Man, I sure wasn't disappointed.
Not the ideal light conditions (like you just stumble across it by chance lol) or time of day but made a decent fist of it none-the-less; a few return visits on the cards now methinks.
Taking a decent portrait is not all that difficult to be honest; it's not beyond most of us, most of the time.
Taking a decent landscape shot - boy, there's a challenge right there; always a challenge and it always will be.
