Brodick Castle (1)
This noble pile, towering over Brodick Bay on the east side of the Isle of Arran, is Brodick Castle. And it was not just noble in its time let me tell you, it was veritably ducal, having been the seat of the Dukes of Hamilton in bygone days. It now belongs to the National Trust for Scotland.
Brodick Castle has seen exciting times over the years - but not this bit! This, the front of the castle, was built in the years following the marriage of William, 11th Duke of Hamilton, to Princess Marie, daughter of the Grand Duke of Baden and Stéphanie de Beauharnais, and adopted daughter of Napoleon Bonaparte, in 1843.
The REAL castle is round the back!
