Desert View Tower, Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim
homemade "Picassocam" pinhole camera, 40 sec exposure, paper negative, post processing- digital sky, sepia toning, paper texture done in Photoshop. Fuzzy swirly spirits imaged in-camera. (-:
The Desert View Tower was designed by Mary Colter to resemble Native American kivas and towers that she studied in the desert southwest. She was commissioned to design the building by Fred Harvey (Harvey Houses) , and the dedication for the tower occurred in May, 1933.
The tower is located at the Desert View Point on the east side of the rim road at the Grand Canyon's South Rim. It really is a must-see if you visit the Canyon.
