Brown-hooded Gull on Chiloé Island - Chroicocephalus maculipennis - Gaviota cáhuil
Chiloé means “place of seagulls” in the Huilliche language, one of the indigenous peoples of the island. The birds were certainly an abundant presence during our visit to the archipelago. This one is in high breeding plumage, you can even see the trace of a pink bloom on its breast.
As the sun dropped in the sky, it lit this scene beautifully - a wonderful moment to be a bird photographer.
