The Empire State Building`s 86th and 102nd floor Observatories offer unmatched views of New York City and beyond. People travel from all over the world to look out upon New York from its very centre.

On a clear day visitors can see into New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The statue of Liberty, Central Park, The Flatiron Building and the Chrysler Building highlight the panoramic view.

In the Movies and on Television:

One of the Empire State Building`s earliest appearances was in the classic 1933 movie King Kong starring Fay Wray. King Kong climbs up to the spire to try to escape his attackers, with the screaming Fay Wray in his grasp.

The unforgettable 1957 tragic love story, An Affair to remember, starred Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr and was nominated for for oscars.

Another famous meeting on top of the ESB was featured in the romantic comedy, Sleepless in Seattle, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

On Air:

Broadcasting from the Empire State Building started before the building was finished, when NBC broadcast the RKO Theatre of the Air from the 86th floor. Telivision debuted when NBC sent its first experimental telivision signal from the top of the building on December 22, 1931, and in 1939, the first regular telivision broacasts began with the opening day ceremonies at the New York World`s fair.

Today, the Empire State Building is the centre of the New York City Tri-State region`s broadcasting operations. Its technology supports delivery of broadcasting systems, and directly to television and radio receivers, reaching over 7.4 million households.
