I visualized this shot while out on a trip running errands to the east end of Regina, Saskatchewan.
Since I did my first shot while holding another camera, I have been thinking about how I can improve the shot.
I recently rewatched The Life Aquatic with my girlfriend who hadn't seen it before. I love the symmetry that overtakes most of the film. Since then, I have been trying to bring some of that to my images.
I really enjoy this technique. I like the challenge as it is very difficult to pull off balancing and composing two cameras and utilizing back-button focus on one of them.
The other reason is that it brings together many different elements that make a good image. It gives you fine details of the iphone and mittens, a nice blurring in the background, and lots of depth and perspective from the leading lines running through both dimensions of the image.
