Singer Quantum L-500 Sewing Machine cover
Singer Quantum L-500 sewing machine cover made with assorted sizes of pink gingham. Handle flap on top. Foot controller pocket and manual pocket. The L-500 comes with a huge ugly black dust cover. I didn't like it at all so made my own. I have always loved gingham so using assorted sized gingham and in my favorite color pink was the natural choice for a cover for my favorite machine! I didn't have a pattern so what I did is set the L-500 down on the quilted fabric. I made sure I had enough to reach the height of the machine on all 4 sides and then cut away 4 large corner areas--the part I didn't need in between where the side seams meet. I then set the piece of fabric on top of the machine to see if after I sewed the side seams it would fit the machine. I also cut out a hole in order to have access to the machine handle. Once I had the outside cut I laid it on the lining fabric and cut out a matching piece. I fused interfacing to the lining fabric and on pieces of fabric I had cut to hold the manual and foot controller. I sewed the side seams together on each part, put them right sides together and sewed around the handle hole. Then stuck one side through the hole which turned both pieces right side out. I made it this way because I wanted a completely smooth interior so nothing would 'catch' on the machine.
