Fallow deer

The fallow deer, also called fallow deer in hunter's language, is a medium-sized deer. Characteristic is the shovel antlers of the male animals and the spotted summer coat. Fallow deer are diurnal and prefer to live in open landscapes where small patches of forest alternate with agricultural land. Fallow deer often occupy fixed rutting sites that last for decades and where they congregate annually.
