The juniper thrush is a species of bird in the thrush family. This large thrush species inhabits the central and north-eastern Palearctic region from Scotland and central France eastwards to the Amur River in Siberia. It inhabits semi-open landscapes, in Central Europe mainly forest edges and groves of trees with adjacent wet grassland. The species has greatly expanded its range westwards in the last 200 years or so and is now a moderately common breeding bird in eastern Central Europe. The juniper thrush is predominantly a short-distance migrant and spends the winter mainly in central and south-western Europe and the Mediterranean.
