the jays

the jays is a Singvogel from the family of the raven-birds. It is spread over Europe, parts of North Africa and the Near East as well as in a wide belt through Asia and there southwards as far as to Indochina. It broods in light, structure-rich forests of all types, in Central Europe however prefers in mixed and foliage-forests. Its food-spectrum is very diverse, with animal food predominant in the summer, vegetable food in the winter. Before the winter, extensive supplies of acorns and other nut-fruits are put on.
