I think her side curls may be fake.

I love this image. She looks so serious and yet so comical at the same time, Nice tinting!

The clarity of daguerreotypes never ceases to amaze me...I've been sitting here with my face inches from the screen, expecting her to talk to me...

You may be right about the bottleneck curls...but I wonder....wouldn't it be lovely it they were real, I'd like to think they were.

Sorry...still here...Jeez, twenty minutes. It seems that when you scanned it you somehow instilled her with a hint of very real flesh tone...bewitching.

I agree with Evening*.. the skin tone is amazingly life like. Incredible.

She's been tinted that way. I have another one, of Catherine Emmons, that also looks like a real color photo. No splotwork for this lady!

Where is fifi (Bootpainter), anyway??????????? I haven't seen her about for several weeks now.

The man who invented photography was a painter. The skin tones are so perfect that it would not be surprising to find out the photographer studied painting before he took up photography.

Apparently the lovely fifi is in the US?!... Read the comments under her last post :)

And she is not visiting me exactly why??????

    10. kevin63 63 months ago | reply

One of the long-gone women I painted, named Sylvia, paid me a dream visit. It was nothing scary. She was apparently okay with my painting her, but wanted me to know her hair was red.
      Who knows?

I have no problem with the dead returning. They're all around us, I think.

Nor I where dream visits are concerned. As my paintings are all late Victorian/early Edwardian based.

I have to say that your collection of daguerreotypes is probably the most wonderful I've seen on Flickr. Just when I think you can't out do yourself you manage it yet once again. The lady featured here is simply mesmerising.

Oh thank you. That is so kind. Myself, I am really in awe of Mirror Image's and cosmorochester collects.
