S.S. City of Milwaukee on Fuji Neopan Acros 100
Another from the first roll of Fuji Neopan Acros 100 I have shot. This is the carferry S.S. City of Milwaukee in Manistee Michigan, just off of US-31 on the north side of town.
Built in 1931 by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company, the Grand Trunk railroad ordered her construction after the carferry S.S. Milwaukee foundered in Lake Michigan between Milwaukee and Grand Haven.
After the Grand Trunk ceased carferry operations, she sailed for the Ann Arbor railroad out of Elberta.
The ship is moored in Manistee and is opened for tours. I have taken the tour a few times. It is very interesting and I highly recommend it for anybody interested in carferries.
More information can be found at www.carferry.com.
