#46 7/8/11 This was the aftermath of the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, 2011, over the Hudson River. It was well worth the trek to Weehawken, NJ, and the many hours waiting from early afternoon to secure a good spot. The fireworks are always spectacular, but this year they were especially beautiful. The show was not over when the finale filled the sky with light. For those of us who stuck around for a few minutes, the smoke left behind by the fireworks made for an eerie and beautiful sight as the lights of Manhattan glowed through the smoke trails.
