MAP417019 PBG—Morning Ripples

A Pied-billed Grebe (PBG) surfacing from a dive, creates ripples on the otherwise still water on the Wisconsin River on a quiet morning. The river looks blue due to the reflection of the clear sky above. The prominent black band on its bill is part of its coloring during breeding season. Photo taken along the Ice Age Trail near Irma, Wisconsin.
