California Zephyr Calling at Burlington

Headlights are back on, and the engineer is ready to take the Zephyr out of Burlington, Iowa and over the Mississippi River into Illinois along the CB&Q mainline to Galesburg. The Zephyr is doing rather well today, all things considered. Some platform drama occurred during that station stop including moving a family from their assigned upper level seats to lower level seats in an adjacent Superliner along with folks arriving at the very last second to board an already 23-minute train. Today's Zephyr made it through the Moffat Tunnel dodging the work that has affected the regular schedule since late July. The train will depart at 11:02am, 26 minutes late, and will arrive Chicago a mere four minutes off advertised.

This was my first visit to Burlington, and the Zephyr was my target. It was the highlight of a quick work trip to the Quad Cities with a side trip to visit some of the railroad highlights around Burlington and Galesburg. Few photos, but quality versus quantity.
