    Action shot of the 2006 Boston Marathon, taken at mile eight where the runners are still packed together tightly (see this shot to get a sense of the density).

    This is a detail of a photo taken from a tripod about a foot above street level. I tried several different shutter speeds and made about 20 exposures. This one at 1/30 was the most successful.

      Great photo. I love the movement contrasted with the stillness of the cups. I am a student in Boston and just became interested (obsessed really) with photography. I tried some of my own photos of the Marathon. It's helpful to read the descriptions of how you got such great shots - thanks!
