Northern Oak Fern (Gymnocarpium dryopteris)

Northern Oak Fern (Gymnocarpium dryopteris) is an uncommon but not rare native to northern North America. It is found in cool, moist woods in rocky, slightly acidic soil.

I have found just one group of this small 5-8 inch high fern in the woods of Distant Hill Gardens.
