American Fly Honeysuckle (Lonicera Canadensis)

American Fly Honeysuckle (Lonicera canadensis) is one of the earliest native shrubs to bloom in the woods at Distant Hill Gardens. Its greenish yellow flowers grow in pairs, giving way to oval red fruits which are also joined. Note the fine hairs on the edge of the leaf, an identifying feature of this plant.
