Macro Setup Mark 1
*Forgot the SB-700 in this photo LOL T____T
Since I just started out with macro, I have decided to just stick to the basics, honing skills first before really going for a dedicated macro lens.
Currently using a Nikon body, Kenko extension tubes, a 50mm F1.8g and a handheld SB-700 for macro shots.
For those who are interested, there is no real point in getting Kenko extension tubes unless if you have (or will have) a heavier lens that you want to attach to them :) You can save alot of money by going for super cheap extension tubes (~RM30) if you are only planning to use a 50mm prime for the macro shots :)
Everything comes at a price of course. Extension tubes, although super cheap, are less versatile, they can only focus at close range, and I mean really close range (which will scare certain shy subjects away). And in order to frame certain subjects (big vs small insects), you are going to have to add/remove the extension tubes, which will take time and might result in missing shots.
Still, at that price, we can't really complain too much la haha, I've managed to take many shots with extension tubes, and I really love using them :D
