Stalk eye fly

This particular fly was featured in the BBC documentary series, and the filming was carried out in Malaysia :p

Stalk eye flies, once hatched, will climb to a safe place before "blowing" while the tissues are still soft, so as to prolong their eyes- the longer the eyes, the better it is to attract females.

Needless to say, having such long stalks can be pretty inconvenient for these flies... Oh well, what to do when you want to win a girl's heart? XD
