Maratus madelineae
This spider was found by Adam Fletcher and Michael Doe in southwestern Western Australia when it was still "unknown to science" but it has subsequently been named after my friend Madeline (Maddie) Girard who does her PhD on Maratus at Berkeley in California and found individuals of this species. One of the most striking species in the genus Maratus. Interestingly this particular individual differs from the the ones that are named Maratus madelinae in some details, such as the pattern of the opisthosomal fan, the colour of the palps and the colour of the legs. Some people may consider it a separate species, but I prefer to combine these forms
