Saratus hesperus
Stuart Harris discovered this spider in a Canberra vineyard and subsequently it was found in many other locations from Victoria to southern Queensland. David Hill and I recently described and named this spider in Peckhamia 147.1.

It is similar to Maratus species, but close examination of the female and male genitalia revealed striking differences that warrant placing this spider into a different genus. The emerging juveniles are also different from those known in Maratus, by having eight conspicuous spots on the abdomen that disappear or coalesce during development.
