Maratus pavonis
This species is probably the most common and widespread species of the genus Maratus in Australia. It occurs in Western and eastern Australia. Images I included here are from Tasmanian and Western Australian specimens. It is interesting to note that these differ from one another a fair bit.
Maratus pavonis is closely related to the species Maratus splendens which has only been found in the Sydney area. The abdominal pattern of both species are very similar but a major difference between the two is the presence or absence of a black or silver area behind the eyes. Another similar species is Maratus literatus
