Such a relief to have this project complete!

I wasn't expecting it to look this nice. The black and silver parts help the frame look less bleached and skeletal. A very clean and futuristic result. The semi-gloss and clear coat made beautiful and subtle reflections of the sunny world.

The bike rode like a dream. Now I know the difference between clean bearings repacked with fresh grease compared to the worn out light coating of grease from the factory. It was long overdue for a change.

It was much harder to put the bike back together than take it apart. Bearing cup installation needed more force than expected. A bar clamp did nothing, so I had to use a hammer and block of wood to pound them in. I used a tip from a BMX assembly video and put the handlebar and seat on first. The bike was flipped upside down for putting on the crank.

I only damaged the new paint in three places, so clear nail polish was applied to inhibit rust. They say waxing should wait 30 days after spray painting, so it looks like that will happen on Christmas Eve.

      I'm very happy.
