1915 - Spital Vaults

Part of my "250 Years in Chester" set -

The British weren't going to let a World War get in the way of completing another new pub as evidenced by The Spital Vaults.

The Spital Vaults is on a road called Spital Walk. The word Spital comes from Hospital and this area once housed a Leper Hospital which, by it's very nature, would have needed to be outside the city - it's now considered quite close to city centre but that's urban sprawl for you. I am not sure how old the hospital was but it does appear on 15th Century maps.
