2012 Mac mini video issues HDMI MDP Thunderbolt
My 2012 Mac mini (2.3Ghz mid-range) died after 3 weeks. It happened while using the mini and froze with pink lines. A reboot only confirmed, it was toast. All of the other photos were from boot, most had black lines, one had green lines. Not once would it boot to the desktop, just go to the boot screen, the lines appear, and after a couple of minutes the mini reboots itself only to repeat the lines and reboot again.

This happens with ALL video outputs and ALL adapters EXCEPT for Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt, which works perfectly. Apple told me this is a known issue, Apple has no fix, and that Apple does not offer a hardware replacement or exchange. My choices were to either buy a Thunderbolt display for $1000 or settle for owning a new $800 bricked Mac. Apple is falsely advertising the 2012 mini works with HDMI and MDP. Even includes an HDMI to DVI adapter in the box, which will not work once this issue occurs. I have tested HDMI to HDMI, MDP to DP, MDP to HMDI (using an adapter), HDMI to DVI (using an adapter), and HDMI to VGA (using an adapter). The only way to get video out once this happens is to use Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt, per Apple's own Genius Bar instructions. Even the Apple Genius Bar employees were shocked that Apple's internal memo (which I was not allowed to look at but they read it to me) said there is no fix and do not exchange a working mini for the customer.
