Waterfall on Yellow Branch
No sweat sharing a full flowing southern waterfall on Flickr in August...just pull one up from some other time.
This waterfall is located in South Carolina near a town called Walhalla. I have been there many times but have only managed to catch it under a full water flow twice, once in March and this time in June. Seeing the waterfall this time of year under a good flow after traveling hundreds of miles and not knowing the local rainfall is like winning the lottery. Though the photogenic qualities of most waterfalls suffer under conditions of low water flow, this one hits rock bottom as only a few of the shelves will hold a little trickle down the center. This is for sure one of my top 3 falls that I have ever visited.
I also had to race a group down the 1.5 mile trail to beat them here with time for me to shoot some compositions before they would start climbing and clinging. Lucky for me they were pretty slow, and arrived just as I was wrapping it all up.
