Last friday (July 22) a right-wing fanatic blew up a car bomb outside the government building in Oslo and killed 8 people. He then dressed as a policeman and drove to the island of Utøya where he shot dead 68 at a youth camp for the ruling Labour Party.
Between 150,000 and 200,000 gathered in Oslo last monday to honor the dead and injured. All brought flowers. It was a moving and powerful experience.
Afterwards we were told to cover the city with flowers and so we did. The entire city center was transformed into a flowery meadow. It was beautiful.
