I really liked how the pale Surf Lifesaving club contrasted with the sea. I thought that the minimalism made for a very striking image reinforced by the contrasting colours. There is some also interesting geometry in this piece, made more interesting by the minimalism of the photo.

Surf Lifesaving is hugely popular in Australia and a iconic symbol of the country. The sport was pioneered off Sydney's beach at the turn of the 20th century, and is formed up of volunteers who dedicate their time to protecting swimmers on their respective beaches. Each club has their own colours emblazoned on caps and cossies and also take part in interclub competitions including first aid contests, running races, surf paddles and rowing.

Coogee is the laid-back, less commercialised version of Bondi. Coogee has a distinct American feel to the place with it's Californian style apartment blocks and it's San Fransisco-esque hill roads. The beach is snuggly enclosed between two grassy headlands. Coogee beach is famous for it's seawater baths dotted at both ends of the beach.
