Czech Wooden Carved Puppetry Creation
CZECH MARIONETTE MASTER CLASS CARVING WORKSHOP
May 7 –15 / 9am–6pm daily / $750 / Limit 10 participants
A nine day marionette master class that includes a carving and performance workshop with Czech puppet masters Mirek Trejtnar and Dora Bouzkova. During this intensive workshop, students will make wooden carved marionettes and create an original puppet performance that will be presented to the public. The workshop is ideal for both designers and performers who want to be immersed in the world of puppetry. It will cover all aspects of creating a marionette performance including designing puppets, woodcarving, painting and puppet costume design, manipulation and performance. Students will learn the rich history of Czech puppetry and current trends, including screening of some of the best Czech animated puppet films. At the end of the course, each student will go home with an original hand-carved marionette—plus the skills to make more.
